The Mangalitsa at AZ Fine Swine are raised with great care to make this once almost extinct breed available to you!! Because of the Mangalitsa genetics, the care with which they are raised, and the special diet they are fed, the fat on our Mangalitsa has an amazing flavor, quality and consistency - higher in monounsaturated fat and low in saturated fat.
Try this meat and you’ll discover why the breed is renowned for its superior fat quality, incredibly concentrated flavor, and highly marbleized meat.
You will also be eating a healthier cut of meat than the light-fleshed industrialized pork seen in most U.S. supermarkets. Because of its unique genetics, when allowed to mature at a natural rate, the Mangalitsa creates fat that is mostly monounsaturated and high in omega fatty acids – opposed to their porcine brethren in factory farms who are force-fattened at an accelerated rate with corn and soy which, incidentally, causes them to make less unsaturated fat.

You may wonder why Mangalitsa costs more than other heritage pig breeds. They require nearly twice as much of everything as other pigs - more time to mature, high quality food, and more feed to finish them.

Our Hurd
We raise our Mangalitsa pigs on an all-natural diet. They are never injected with hormones or antibiotics or fed anything but all-natural feedstuffs. We are the only Mangalitsa herd that is antibiotic free. You benefit from pork that has a healthier blend of fats, higher levels of oleic acids, and a product untainted by artificial additives.

History of the Mangalitsa Pig
The pig is one of the oldest established animals in husbandry, having been domesticated some 8,000 years ago in Asia, from where it was brought to Europe. And the Mangalitsa pig, (Mangalitza in German & Mangalica in Hungarian) is one of the oldest European breeds.

Our Mangalitsa pigs are fed an all-natural vegetarian diet with no antibiotics. These hogs are developed in loose housing and fed the Wheat or Barley diet the last 60 days or so. They are typically harvested between 11-18 months age. Harvesting the animals at an older age allows them to develop their wonderful flavor. There is a limited supply of this product. If you want a continuous supply, we can arrange a continuous supply. Contact us to make arrangements.

BREEDING STOCK AVAILABLE... Swallow Bellied Mangalitsa boars, gilts and bred gilts available for those who prefer to raise their own Mangalitsa pork. We will work with you to start your herd with the age of pigs that you would like. We can offer you genetic packages to get started. Due to the limited gene pool in the United States, we will help you keep the amount of inbreeding to a minimum.

Epicureans, always obsessed with the next big food craze, are currently in the throes of a pork renaissance. One “elite breed,” the Mangalitsa, is currently being sought after by this crowd of food worshipers for its creamy, intensely flavored fat, and its generously marbled meat.
